MonacoTech Deadline: 17 November
MonacoTech's autumn call closes 17 November 2026. The criteria, the timeline and a practical checklist for Monaco founders applying now.
MonacoTech, the Principality's state-backed startup incubator, is now accepting applications for its next intake, and the window closes on 17 November 2026. That leaves a little over two weeks. If you are a founder thinking about building from Monaco, the useful question is no longer whether to apply, but whether your application will survive the first cut.
In September we covered what to expect from the autumn call before it opened. The details are now published, and they are more specific than in previous years. This article walks through the confirmed criteria and what a credible file needs to show by the deadline.
The confirmed timeline
According to the call as reported by local press in October, the process runs in three stages:
- 17 November 2026 — online application deadline, via monacotech.mc
- December 2026 — video interviews with preselected candidates
- January 2027 — shortlisted projects pitch to an expert jury
- From March 2027 — selected startups officially join MonacoTech
The practical implication: if you are selected, you will be pitching in January and onboarding in spring. Plan your hiring, fundraising and personal relocation decisions around that calendar, not around the deadline alone. Dates can shift, so confirm everything on the official MonacoTech site before submitting.
Two tracks, two different audiences
The call offers two routes in.
Incubation is for entrepreneurs who want to consolidate a project, sharpen their growth strategy and build relationships with Monaco's economic and institutional players. Think of it as structured support for a young company that wants Monaco to be its home market or launchpad.
Entrepreneur in Residence is aimed particularly at international startups and serial entrepreneurs who want to expand into and establish themselves in Monaco. If you already have traction elsewhere and see Monaco as a strategic base, this is likely the better fit.
Monegasque nationality is not required. Pick the track that matches where your company actually is, not where you would like the jury to think it is.
The criteria that filter applications
This is where most applications will be won or lost. The published requirements are concrete:
- The project must be beyond the idea stage
- A functional prototype is required
- You need positive market feedback
- Commercialisation must be planned within 18 months
Priority sectors are Health & BioTech, Climate & BlueTech (including marine technologies) and Applied AI. Projects outside these sectors can still be considered if they show real potential and fit Monaco's development priorities.
Note the wording "applied AI". A jury is unlikely to be impressed by a thin wrapper around a general-purpose model. What reads as credible is a specific problem, a specific user and evidence that AI makes the solution measurably better. If your product uses AI, be ready to explain what data it depends on, what you built yourself and what you rely on from third parties.
What "functional prototype" should mean in your file
A prototype requirement is easy to underestimate. Screenshots and a pitch deck are not a working product. Before 17 November, aim to have:
- A live demo a reviewer can access or watch end-to-end, even if it is narrow in scope
- A short screen recording (two to three minutes) showing the core workflow, in case live access is impractical
- A clear landing page that explains who the product is for, what it does and what happens next — this is often the first thing an evaluator checks
If your public presence is still a holding page, fixing that is one of the highest-return tasks of the next two weeks. A focused, well-structured page does more than a sprawling site. Our landing page design work is built around exactly this kind of short, conversion-focused brief, and the same principles apply when your "conversion" is a jury's attention.
Proving market feedback without inventing numbers
"Positive market feedback" does not require revenue, but it does require evidence. Strong signals include:
- Letters of intent or pilot agreements, even unpaid ones
- Named (or anonymised, with permission) user testimonials tied to a concrete outcome
- Waitlist sign-ups with a description of how they were acquired
- Usage data from a beta: active users, retention, repeat use
Be honest about scale. A jury in a small ecosystem will see through inflated figures quickly, and credibility matters more than size. If your evidence is early, say so and explain what you will learn next.
If you collect personal data through a beta, a waitlist or user interviews, remember that Monaco has its own framework: Law No. 1.565 of 3 December 2024, supervised by the APDP. Monaco is not an EU member state, so do not simply copy a GDPR template and assume it covers you. Having a clear privacy notice and a basic record of what you collect is a small effort that signals maturity. Our APDP data protection page outlines where to start, and for anything specific to your case, get professional legal advice.
A two-week action plan
With the deadline close, prioritise in this order:
- This week: confirm the official requirements and form fields on monacotech.mc; choose your track; draft your answers to "why Monaco" and "why now".
- Next week: finalise the demo and recording; update your landing page; gather feedback evidence into one clean document.
- Before 17 November: have someone outside the team read the full application cold. If they cannot explain your product in one sentence afterwards, rewrite it.
- Submit early. Do not leave it to the final evening — online forms fail at the worst moments.
Then prepare for December: a video interview rewards a concise, rehearsed story and a demo that works on the first attempt.
The bottom line
MonacoTech's criteria now reward evidence over ambition: a working product, real feedback and a path to revenue within 18 months. If you are in health, climate, blue tech or applied AI and already have those three things, this intake is worth a serious application. If you are not there yet, use the criteria as a roadmap for the next call.
